HungaroControl

Hungary's ANSP; Budapest was the first medium-capacity airport certified for unrestricted remote tower service (2017).

Overview

HungaroControl provides air navigation services for Hungary. Searidge remote tower technology at Budapest Ferenc Liszt International was certified by the Hungarian CAA in November 2017, the first medium-capacity airport certified for unrestricted remote tower service, and it has since been used for contingency and service continuity, including through COVID. Indra is now implementing a full digital remote tower for Budapest (Indra Navia contract of about EUR 4.9M including A-SMGCS), with full operational deployment planned for 2026 including a separate contingency remote tower. HungaroControl has also consulted on Dubai International's contingency tower concept and partnered with Thales at its 2016 remote tower launch.
