Airservices Australia

Australia's ANSP; the Western Sydney Digital Aerodrome Service at Eastern Creek is the country's first purpose-built digital tower.

Overview

Airservices Australia built a purpose-built Digital Aerodrome Service (DAS) for Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton), operated from a hub at Eastern Creek with more than 20 cameras, developed with Frequentis Australasia and CDC data centres. Navy and Airservices aircraft flight-tested the digital tower in February 2026, with certification required by July 9, 2026 ahead of the airport's opening on October 25, 2026. Airservices earlier selected Searidge for a Digital Aerodrome Services prototype at Sydney (2019). CASA approval runs through safety cases under the existing ATS regulatory framework rather than a dedicated remote tower standard.
