LFV (Sweden)

Sweden's ANSP; won the world's first remote tower operational approval in 2014 and started operations in 2015.

Overview

LFV is Sweden's civil ANSP and the original remote tower operator. The Swedish Transport Agency granted LFV the world's first operational approval for routine remote tower service on October 31, 2014, and Ornskoldsvik has been controlled from the Sundsvall remote tower centre since April 21, 2015, the world's first remote tower operation. LFV now runs two centres on Saab r-TWR: RTC Sundsvall (Ornskoldsvik, Sundsvall-Timra, Linkoping, and Scandinavian Mountains, the first airport ever built with no tower at all, opened December 2019 and operated by Saab SDATS) and RTC Stockholm at Arlanda (Kiruna, Umea, Are Ostersund, and Malmo).
